In the centre of the southernpart of Istria, halfway down betwen Pazin and Pula, near by the road connecting inland istria with the south of the peninsula, lies the old town of Svetvinčenat, with its mediaeval castle, churches and bell-tower.
Svetvinčenat,Sanvincenti, Savičenta - three names for the same locality. In fact it was St. Vincent, a Hispanic martyr and mediaeval abby of the same name, after whom the village was named.
