Make your stay and arrival pleasant |
Our first advice is to take a tourist guide (you can find information on our site also) through Istria which will introduce you to the curiosities of our region and help you to choose a final destination of your stay. Most people spend their holiday during either winter or summer. Unfortunately, we won't be able to help the lovers of snow. But all those who have enough of winter, Istria is the right place to visit even in winter. Summer, on the other hand, offers a rich tourist offer, different kinds of events, visitors and along with all that some small annoyances which are normal and can thus have influence on the realization of the mission of your journey as a tourist. Istria is most visited at the end of July and and at the beginning of August. Before you start your journey clearly define your final destination and make the accommodation reservation well in advance. In the middle of a tourist season or at last minute it is very difficult to find a suitable accommodation. Begin your journey during the week, avoid traveling in the weekend. Stop for the night, travel only when you are not tired and in the late afternoon when there is not too much traffic and the temperatures are lower. Once you arrived at your destination, you should know that all tourist centers are small towns which are crowded with visitors in the summer. Traffic on the streets, no free parking places - are normal. You can avoid long lines of vehicles by renting a scooter or a bicycle, if you already do not have any. You will feel free and relaxed and, why not, younger too. The combination of sun and sea brings a lot of fun and pleasure, but some perils as well. Our dear planet has some troubles too and we are part of it too. During the summer enjoy the sea and the sun in the morning until 11 o'clock, and in the afternoon after 4 p.m. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. it is better to avoid the sun because of the famous ozone holes, and even those who think they do not have any problems by laying in the sun. The bad influences could be allergy, redness of the skin and temperature. However, you should certainly use a hat. But to be honest, the most beautiful time of the day to be at the beach and feel the sense of belonging to nature is in the early morning and in the late afternoon. It is the right time to relax your body and soul. The atmosphere is special. However, you should pay attention to the sea inhabitants like the anemone or the jelly-fish which while on the one hand they are sign of the clear sea, on the other hand, with their unpleasant sting, they can also remind you that you are on their territory. If you got stung by their tentacles, you can help yourself by rubbing a cream or something alike into your skin to relieve the pain, but you might still get burns and temperature. After that the only thing you can do is to lay in the shade near the sea. If you practice sport activities like sailing, surfing, jet-skiing or rowing in a rowboat, a shell, a canoe or a kayak, listen to the advice provided by the person in charge for their rental or the weather forecast. Sea and winds can be tricky and all of a sudden you could convince yourself of how powerful the sea can be. If you would like to go fishing or diving you should ask for all the necessary information, get the licenses and an identity card from the authorized port master's offices, diving centers and clubs. If you like to swim, do not go too far from the coast. There is a threat of high speed lovers on their skimmers or jet-skies. If you are one of them, you should do the opposite, do not approach the coast with high speed. And remember, there are no brakes on the sea. All of a sudden an accident can occur and there is no coming back. But, let's end with a pleasant piece of advice. Before you set off for your holiday to Istria, do not forget to bring the camera or the video camera. Keep a journal, keep record of the stories and legends you will be told. By doing so you will create your personal guide through Istria, which will make you think of this magic land and will remind you to come back. "Only the angels know how it feels to be in heaven, only the angels in the heaven... and all those who have visited Istria at least once!"
