ABOUT THE 8th LIBURNIA JAZZ FESTIVAL
In the first weekend of July (4.-6. VII), for eight years in a row, Opatija will be a host to the Liburnia Jazz Festival, which, according to its level of recognition, number of concerts and visitors, is definitely the biggest jazz festival in Croatia and the region.
Each year organizers have been striving to introduce some novelties in the Festival concept, thus, this year we can announce the extension of the
so-called Off Programme into a real Street Jazz Festival.
Jazz will be heard at eight town locations. So far, the concerts took place at the Big Stage of the Open Air Theatre, the Monokini Lounge Bar, the Millenium Hotel and Imperial Hotel terraces, while from this year jazz will invade the Slatina Beach and the Bristol Hotel terrace.
Starting with this year, we are introducing two “mobile” stages. One of them is the JAZZ BUS, namely, the recognizable tourist double-decker will have on its roof a jazz band that will make the tourist ride from Opatija to Rijeka much more interesting. Lovers of the sea will have the opportunity to sail from Opatija to Moscenicka Draga on the JAZZ BOAT of the Paraguay Tours, in this way being able to swim, have a drink and listen to good music.
The 8th Liburnia Jazz Festival can thus announce a total of twenty concerts on eight stages.
Besides the Street Jazz Festival, seven concerts will take place on the stage of the Open Air Theatre during the three Festival days.
On this occasion, we would like to announce the first great star of the Festival.
We are honoured and pleased to have the opportunity to be able to listen to the true diva of the Brazilian music and one of the best jazz pianists altogether – E L I A N E E L I A S. She will be accompanied by virtuoso musicians Marc Johnson on double bass and Adam Nussbaum on drums, on Saturday 5th July on the Big Stage of the Open Air Theatre.
